Baby Loss & Grief Support

Baby loss is the loss of a baby after 24 weeks of pregnancy and includes loss during pregnancy, still birth, neonatal death (first 28 days) and sudden infant death syndrome SIDS (1 year and below).

Baby loss has a devastating impact on the mother and wider family.  The emotional impact is profound and whole families will go through grief, loss, extreme sadness, worry and depression as a result. Find out more below about how I can support you with your grief:

The emotional impact of baby loss:

The emotional impact is long-lasting and runs very deep. Dealing with grief is debilitating and we are generally ill-equipped to manage our emotions, “what if thoughts” and overwhelming feelings during this phase.

People often say you never get over the loss of  a loved one, especially a baby, you just learn to deal with it. And for many women the thought of overcoming that grief can feel like also letting go of the memory and the love for that child.  But you can learn to manage your emotions, while also be able to remember your baby or child in a positive way.

The stages of grief:

Yow il go through the 7 stages of grief  which are:

  • Shock & disbelief

  • Denial

  • Guilt

  • Anger

  • Depression & loneliness

  • Reconstruction (building your new life)

  • Acceptance

And during those stages, it is important to have support and guidance with how you feel so that you don’t slip into cycle of self-blame, self-loathing or feelings of failure, which will impact you not only now, but also throughout your future. On top of those 7 stages, you may also be dealing with depression, anxiety, isolation and physical pain.

Treatment & support for baby loss:
